Solution & Architecture

Safewall Barricades replaces conservative time-based wait periods with embedded IoT sensors and proven maturity analytics based on the ASTM C1074 standard. The system continuously monitors the temperature-time profile of curing shotcrete barricade walls to calculate compressive strength in real time, giving engineering teams the data to approve paste plug pours with confidence.

How It Works

1
Install
Attach three sensor lines to barricade wall before shotcrete sets
2
Cure
Wireless RF transmits hydration data to surface, track strength development live
3
Design Strength
Data confirms barricade can withstand hydrostatic pressure of paste fill
4
Paste Pour
Plug pour begins with confidence, optimise pour rates based on measured data

Network Architecture

Sensor lines communicate with the connectivity and power box via direct wired connection. The power box transmits data wirelessly over RF to the edge gateway, requiring no existing network infrastructure at the barricade location. The gateway connects to the mine’s Wi-Fi network and transmits data to the surface. All cloud communications use TLS 1.3 encryption. The gateway buffers data locally during connectivity interruptions and synchronises automatically when the link is restored, ensuring no data loss in intermittent network conditions.
